Originally, like a collector, I tracked down darned fabrics, yesterday and today. For the love of the material, for the attention to detail. The humanity of the fiber then appears to me, and I make up stories for myself. Those of a small hand which carried out this incredible work, of the loving wife of a worker who will spend his day in the factory, of a peasant anxious not to lose his grain, of a nun full of meditation.

And then, the real story is given to me to see thanks to the National Archives of the World of Work and their photographic collection, another one. One by one, each image tells us the little story in the big one, detail after detail, as long as we take the time to discover them. All of them witness a moment of life, and sometimes entire lives. The large format is essential then.

This photographic work is part of a global reflection around the notion of heritage, textile, industrial and human heritage, because they are all one.
